Connecting with Eastern Ontario Municipalities at OEMC 2026

AED Foundation Ontario attended the 2026 Ontario East Municipal Conference (OEMC) in Ottawa from September 9–11, connecting with municipal leaders and representatives from across Eastern Ontario to discuss the provincial AED Registry, AED awareness and accessibility.

The provincial AED Registry was a key focus of our conversations. As Ontario’s Official AED Registrar, we shared how our work with the Ministry of Health connects AED location information with 911 dispatch, helping dispatchers direct bystanders to nearby devices during a cardiac emergency. We also discussed the role municipalities can play in supporting registration and keeping information about AEDs in their facilities current.

These conversations offered an opportunity to introduce attendees to our work, answer questions about the Registry and discuss why knowing where AEDs are located is an important part of community emergency preparedness. From recreation centres to municipal offices and community halls, municipalities help shape AED access in the spaces residents use every day.

Throughout the conference, our team connected with the people serving Eastern Ontario’s communities, heard their perspectives and built relationships to support continued outreach across the region.
