AED Foundation Ontario Engages Municipal Leaders at AMO 2026

AED Foundation Ontario was pleased to participate in the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa, alongside municipal and provincial leaders, associations, advocacy organizations, and stakeholders from across the province.
Over the course of the conference, our team engaged with attendees to discuss the future of AED accessibility in Ontario and the critical role communities play in strengthening preparedness for sudden cardiac arrest.
A key focus of these discussions was Ontario’s provincial AED Registry and the ongoing efforts to improve how AEDs are identified, documented, and accessed during cardiac emergencies. By supporting the registration of AEDs and ensuring their locations are readily available, the Registry will enhance emergency response coordination and help first responders and bystanders locate life-saving devices more quickly when every second counts.
The conference also provided an important platform to advance broader conversations around AED awareness and advocacy. Municipalities play a central role in overseeing many of the public spaces where Ontarians live, work, gather, and participate in recreation, making their leadership essential to building more AED-ready communities.
Throughout AMO 2026, we heard valuable insights, lived experiences, and thoughtful questions from leaders and organizations across Ontario. These conversations underscored the importance of increasing AED awareness, promoting registration, and ensuring communities understand how accessible and effective these devices are in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
We are sincerely grateful to everyone who visited the AED Foundation Ontario booth, shared their perspectives, and took the time to learn more about the provincial Registry and our ongoing work.
AMO 2026 also provided an opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships and establish new connections with organizations and leaders who share our commitment to improving cardiac emergency preparedness across Ontario.
We look forward to continuing these important conversations and working collaboratively with municipalities, provincial partners, associations, and community advocates to help build a more AED-ready Ontario.
