World Restart A Heart Day 2025
In recognition of World Restart a Heart Day, the AED Foundation of Ontario joined TD BeAT as they hosted an engaging training session for local students, focusing on hands-on CPR and AED education. The event aimed to empower youth with the confidence and skills to act quickly during a sudden cardiac arrest and to raise awareness about the importance of having accessible, well-maintained AEDs in schools and public spaces. CTV News attended to capture the experience, sharing how this initiative is helping to build a new generation of lifesavers and strengthen community readiness across Ontario.
Sarah's Story
In 2022, my partner suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during a sports game, right in front of me. When a bystander rushed to get the facility’s AED, we discovered the battery was dead. It hadn’t been checked properly, and my partner’s life was put in serious danger. Thankfully, with the quick actions of incredible bystanders, CPR was started immediately and continued until emergency services arrived. My partner survived, but many others aren’t as lucky. That terrifying moment inspired me to take action. I’m now committed to raising awareness about the importance of AED maintenance-because an AED can only save a life if it’s ready to use. Thank you for being part of AED Ready. Together, we can help save lives.
