Position Summary

The Public Affairs Coordinator supports AED Foundation Ontario’s stakeholder engagement and communications activities across the province. This role works closely with the Director of Public Affairs to plan meetings, liaise with municipal and provincial stakeholders, and support traditional and digital communications efforts. This position is well suited to an early-career professional with strong organizational skills, an interest in public policy and community engagement, and the ability to clearly communicate AEDFO’s mission and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

​

Stakeholder Outreach and Coordination

  • Conduct outreach to municipal, provincial, and community stakeholders across Ontario

  • Schedule meetings, manage calendars, prepare agendas, and track follow-ups

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stakeholder contact lists and engagement records

  • Liaise with stakeholders on behalf of the Director as appropriate

Municipal and Provincial Engagement Support

  • Support outreach related to Ontario municipal and provincial governments

  • Assist with preparing briefing notes, backgrounders, and meeting materials

  • Track engagement activity and stakeholder feedback

​

Communications and Media

  • Write and schedule social media posts aligned with AEDFO priorities

  • Draft news releases, media advisories, and stakeholder communications

  • Support traditional and digital media, and event outreach efforts

​

Content Creation

  • Create or support the development of short videos and graphics for outreach and social media

  • Capture and manage visual content from meetings, events, and initiatives

  • Ensure consistent messaging and tone across communications

​

Planning and Administrative Support

  • Support planning and logistics for meetings, events, and outreach initiatives

  • Maintain organized records and documentation

  • Provide general administrative support related to stakeholder relations and communications

​

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of Ontario municipal and or provincial political environments

  • Experience coordinating meetings and working with diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Experience writing social media or short-form communications content

  • Basic content creation skills, video, graphics, or both

Preferred Assets

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in communications, political science, public policy, health, or a related field

  • Experience with nonprofit, advocacy, or public-sector organizations

  • Familiarity with social media management and content creation tools

  • Interest in public health, emergency preparedness, or community safety
